FUNDING

Since Ikhweze is registered as a Non Profit Organisation, we rely on donations and we also collect Boarding fees from children who have parents or relatives from the disability grant and we take half a percentage in order for the parent or relative to use the remaining to visit the child hence they rely on it. If we took everything they would abandon the child in our care. For those disabled children who are orphans we are not getting disability grant from Department Of Social Development, we are still working on it so as in future we can receive grants directly from the department of Social Development. For the Home to survive we have Department of Mental Health who is subsidizing only the 51 mentally disabled children, the rost of the Physically disabled children are not funded, however since they are in the same Home we cannot discriminate, in that way the funding we receive does not cover our daily running cost.

With the insufficient funding we strive to buy food, treatment, pay for transport to and from Hospitals or clinics and provide clothes including uniforms, medication, and our monthly payment bills of electricity and water we struggle to make payments so we skip some months to pay for water and electricity depending on the bills, this has resulted in an extremely high  bill of water.

FUNDING

Buhlebesizwe does collect fees from parents eg. R50-00 for 3 to 5 years old (not at nursery), R60-00 those in Nursery and neet after-care. R85-00 is collected from children who need transport. The Creche has been receiving funds from an International Donor calld KinderNorthHilfe (KNH) from Germany, but the contract ended at the en of 2009 for the reason that KNH is now focusing on other African Countries outside South Africa. This became a crisis since there is no income to run the place, however in 2008 we applied to the Department of Social Development and it was approved, we have been attending their Workshops on Financial management, but we are still waiting.
